Pros

Steady employment, competent managers, friendly colleagues

Cons

Things can go from calm to hectic very suddenly and very quickly. Health insurance plans are really just not good at all.

Poor Culture

Pros

New CEO is more progressive and seems to be going in right direction. Nice work environment and most non-management staff are nice.

Cons

Too much hassle trying to do any work between departments. Everyone is “too busy” but never does anything. Manufacturing work to different rules and standards to test of business and a culture of “us and them” is still present. New starter salary is higher than more experienced employees creating tensions and ill-feeling within teams. Management don’t want to fix this.

Pros

Nice building, most people are friendly, onsite canteen is ok, good health/dental benefits. Good pay for amount of work required.

Cons

Huge disparity in working culture between “upstairs and downstairs” Diversity is very poor and if your personality isn’t aggressive/pushy you won’t get on. Old fashioned management styles, managers only interested in themselves, never take time to say thanks for hard work etc, often don’t even bother to say good morning. Keep employees in the dark about most things, communication very poor, lots of finding out information second or third hand rather than direct. Lack of interest/guidance in personal development so high staff turnover. Generally low engagement and motivation in NPO and nothing being done to improve this. Keep making pointless new rules and attitude is very much “if you don’t like it leave, you can be replaced”. Small or no bonuses, very hush hush about bonuses and pay. Little opportunity for developing/progressing within department.
