Pros

- Nice central office with a nice rooftop - Salary bands and promotional paths are more or less public, so you can know what to expect and when - Cool all hands events

Cons

- They overhired for years. Now they did 1st mass layoff in 2020, 2nd in 2022 and said there would be no more. Guess what, they did 3rd layoff in 2023. - Job is not stable. I have seen people not passing probation, because their work was no longer needed. Many job contracts are limited to only two years, so you are under constant stress. - Business is not doing great in Germany, just look at the official yearly numbers. Company's international revenue is declining rapidly, leading to working under pressure and uncertainty. - Many smart people leave and those who stay are quiet for fear of being laid off. Terrible culture. - 4x day RTO and gossips about 5x day RTO. - Constant reorganizations etc. - Job satisfaction is low (as per Voice surveys) - Negative outlook for DE

Pros

At first, the clarity and focus around reviews was refreshing. Prior to wayfair i was at a private company that was opaque about promotions and salary. I appreciated the culture and transparency around performance reviews, the commitment to salary bands and equity, and I felt I was well supported by my manager and fairly paid. Also- everyone I worked with was highly intelligent. I regularly felt like I was surrounded by very high performing and motivated people.

Cons

The downside of the heavy performance focused culture is that it created a cutthroat environment, where everything you did and all discussions with your manager were about how to get to the next level. The organization was also too highly matrixed- and poorly organized in how teams that relied on each other often had opposing goals. This constantly created conflict especially around planning and what to prioritize. The company was poor at prioritization and saying no.
