Let me start off by saying that there are some good things about working at Wayfair, as a whole. Things such as benefits, employee discount, company parties, free snacks etc. The Bangor site is run much differently from the rest of the company sites. If you’re not part of the clique or you are older than 30 you won’t be considered for any advancement opportunities. They created ridiculous requirements for management positions and hire people they can make as their “sheep” rather than true managers with any experience. The site went downhill with the closing of the Verizon call center and they chose to hire managers from there rather than their own experienced employees. Local leadership is more concerned with making themselves look good at the expense of more experienced and tenured employees. They’ll make you jump through hoops to advance and the requirements to advance to management are similar to what you would go through if you were applying to be CEO, not a manager that makes $20/hour. Lots of smoke and mirrors and promises to keep you thinking you’ll go somewhere within the site and company.

As a manager lots of hours for okay pay. Senior leadership says one thing and yet does another. A lot of back stabbing and they will be quick to use you as a scale goat if you’re not in the “club”.
