Pros

Great company culture. Everyone is youthful and many veterans are all too willing to help out the newcomers. Laid back environment is great and, despite the lower-than-average pay, you are given the chance to take on a wealth of responsibilities you wouldn't normally at a different company. CSN definitely gives you the chance to wear a variety of hats and dabble in various aspects of an e-commerce company. The stuff you learn here, you can take with you on to your next career choice. If you have little-to-no work experience, it's a great resume builder. Extra perks include the stocked snackrooms, jeans and sneakers, pod outings and other non-work aspects.

Cons

Some may be all too willing to help you and others believe they're too good for it or it's not their job. There's a line between the full-timers and part-timers: although some part-timers may work close to full-time hours, their compensation remains dreadfully lower than the salaried employees. Part-timers are also somewhat removed from the company culture life; no pod outings or participation in the various holiday parties or get-togethers because they're working the more undesirable hours. They are also unable to resolve basic issues because they aren't given the authority to do so because of part-time status. CSN's basic motto can be summed up as: Swindle the customer into feeling confident although CSN has no control over anything. As a company that drop-ships, employees rarely ever see the products that CSN sells; they ship out directly from warehouses so there's very little product knowledge. And while the warehouse can give an estimate on when the item ships, CSN never really knows; it's a game of placating a customer and keeping their order when in reality CSN can never promise anything. Communication on the same page is rare. Some managers will tell you it's ok to solve a problem one way and the next day another manager will tell you that you've done it wrong or look at you like you have three heads. The company is constantly breaking it's own rules, so your best bet is to just go with the flow.

Pros

There were some nice perks to working at CSN including group outings, solid benefits, convenient location, and a decent snack room.

Cons

Basically you are babysat while you work. Everything you do is monitored, you have no room to think outside the box and suggest business savvy solutions if you don't read the provided script you are chastised. Your job is to pick up the phone and fix whatever mess is on the other line. If you are not buddies with your boss, or at least pretend to be, you go nowhere. Although this may not be unique to CSN, it is certainly disappointing for someone fresh out of college who thinks that with hard work they will move up the corporate ladder.

Pros

Young, vibrant workforce. Lots of good company outings and focus on learning instead of criticizing and highlighting mistakes. Great location in the heart of Boston.

Cons

Terrible pay and false hope to advance. The company used to pitch about promoting from within and quick advancement - that is no longer the case. A new level of upper management has arrived, only to absorb the company's profit that the existing employees worked hard to bring in.
