Pros

Leaves plenty of time outside of work for personal life, great benefits package, lots of vacation time, good location in downtown boston

Cons

Very difficult to advance, environment has become much more stressful and negative in the past year or so. It seems like the company is experiencing growing pains and trying to figure out how to operate.

Pros

if you are fresh out of college, this is a great job for you. You can wear casual clothes and basically hang out with your peers.

Cons

If you're looking for a good salary and/or career advancement, look elsewhere. Benefits are decent but the salaries are insulting.

Pros

CSN Stores emphasizes work-life balance. We're able to work effectively without having to stay late or sacrifice personal time towards company objectives. Additionally, our open, relatively egalitarian office layout facilitates communication and helps create a collegial atmosphere where everyone is respected and where everyone's opinion counts. We also have a strong training program that combines classes, eLearning, and one-on-one work to foster professional development. Even though we all have our own responsibilities, our President, Niraj Shah, emails everyone once a week to introduce people to different departments and e-commerce concepts. I always look forward to reading these "Weekly Updates", as he calls them. As this is my first job out of college, I've been happy with the opportunities I've been given, and I've been pleased that the company encourages us to take advantage of those opportunities. If you work at CSN Stores, you'll be exposed to a lot in a short time, and you'll have a broad range of knowledge that you'll be able to carry with you.

Cons

While CSN Stores has made progress in identifying and recognizing top performers, I think that management should work towards doing this on a constant basis. For every one thing that goes wrong, there are dozens of things that go right, and management would be more effective to recognize this and catch people doing things right more regularly. And, as other posters have noted, CSN's starting salaries seem lower than average, particularly for an expensive market like Boston. Another matter worth noting is that participation in company-sponsored events seems to have dropped off in the past few years. While this may be due to the company's maturing and that people usually have more to do outside of work, it almost seems like employees are less engaged than they were before.
