Pros

Snacks, clean, a lot of tea, good place for students, inters and Wayfair bosses. If you just finished a college you should come here and learn.

Cons

1. Wayfair infrastructure is a nightmare: a) Development environment is almost dead. b) staging environment - never heard. If you ask about this - answer is the same: "too expensive". However, they hire tons of interns and former students. As a result: spaghetti-code and we are falling deeper and deeper as Alice towards Wonderland. 2. this company does not know what does it mean "testing" and "documentation". They think this is a waste of time and money. 3. All projects are running in one "basket". If one failed or sick other are struggling. Sometimes, I think this company like a broken plane. One wing is half working and second is broken all the time and people are fixing it during the flight. Bosses, aka pilots, spend time on the meetings and come only when we have a "fire" on the board. These guys are reviewing usual people without knowing who is who. Reviewing is a formal voting. Based on favoritism you see all these promotions of our bosses to the bigger bosses and that is sad. If you read 1-3 you should imaging, what people think and have as a work/life balance. I think air crew does not have this balance at all when the plane on fire. Resolution - solid 3 stars, come at Wayfair and work. Maybe you can change something. Firefighter is a good profession, however I do not know if I can recommend it to my friend when you have a fire every evening.

Pros

- Free snacks - Nice office in Back Bay - Some nice people - Monthly team outing - Challenging work - Looks good on your resume (and resume only)

Cons

- High turnover - Day to day work very different from what was promised or advertised in jib description - Very incompetent managers with no experience (I had 2 more years of experience that my manager - wasn't told who I would be reporting too when accepted the offer) - Very long hours, worked from 8 to 8 every day - Politics run the place, want to get promoted, become friends with the right people - Witnessed many examples of people being told they were doing a great work only to be slammed with a performance improvement plan - if this happens to you, they just want to document things before they try to push you to quite (they don't want to have to fire you as that would hurt Wayfair Inc. with the State of MA) - Don't try to be creative or try a different approach that you've learned from previous experience, do it the Wayfair way of the highway - Very poor pay and laughable equity

Pros

The customers of Wayfair are incredible. I loved my actual job. The pay isn't bad and if you are in good standing you have it made there. There are career advancement opportunities.

Cons

The attendence policy is horrible. The managers pick favorites and do not have your back. Work force management is absolutely useless. Wayfair is way too "fire happy" and will let you go over minimal offenses. They lack empathy and don't make exceptions for you. If your computer boots up too slow, they do not consider that a technical issue and will mark you late for that. They take 30 mins of sick time for being 5- 30 mins late. They do not explain to you that being in a not ready state accidently will mark you late. You are just supposed to know all these things and there are no room for mistakes or errors. When you move up skill levels, it is difficult to get any time off approved. They came out with a new flex policy that allows you to slide your shift but failed to send out any info or e learning on the process until over a week after the policy began. I was sick and since I didn't know to tell them an hour in advance, they wouldn't make the exception for me. Even though others got exceptions made for them and they never even explained the guidelines. I lost my voice due to bronchitis for a week and had to use the majority of my sick time. They would not work with me or accept a doctor's note. I asked if I could still work and have email time and they said no. I found out they made an exception for someone else that lost their voice. They kick you while your down and lack any compassion or empathy. They do not work with you when you have legitimate issues, make a mistake, or have misunderstandings. The turn over is unreal there. They would rather fire good employees over minimal mistakes and hire brand new people continuously. It looks really bad on them and shows the lack of job security. They are hiring every couple of weeks because they are constantly firing people. I've seen so many people get fired unjustly. They have lawsuits against them for it. You cannot trust HR either. They are bias and try to coerce you into bad mouthing people they are trying to get rid of and twist your words around and threaten to fire you if you talk to anyone about it. It's quite disturbing actually. Everyone is wondering when they will be let go next and are constantly walking on eggshells. I've never been let go before and based what has happened to me and many others, I honestly would not recommend working here unless you like to live on the wild side and enjoy being in suspense on whether you still fired next or not.
