Pockets of good people doing their best in a company at an identity\cultural crossroads
Pros
As a manager, there's a rich community of hands-on tech leaders who can teach you a lot. A lot of managers at Wayfair take their jobs very seriously, and value tenets like servant leadership. The company has its roots as a small, scrappy startup that got to be successful by having people take care of each other. That core early family has largely left now, but some of that warm glow of community still persists; and there are some groups that hew to those more humanistic tenets.
Cons
Most of the people who have joined are into it because of the high stock price and to make money. Lots of folks want to get their four year vest in, not do much to tank the stock, and then go on to found the company that they -really- wanted to build all along. It's a mercenary mindset that can breed some toxic attitudes. Also junior staff are under a lot of move up or move out pressure, which then adds stress to junior managers and leadership.
