Pros

You get to work with some bright people and make great connections. You're working on cutting-edge tech and potentially becoming a part of autonomous history. Compensation is good with great benefits. Team inclusion and diversity is strong. Safety is a big concern of Waymo's.

Cons

Poor communication at times from team to team. The Organizational structure is poor with inconsistencies among leads/managers. The company tries to bite off more than it can chew, often leaving employees feeling overworked and burnt out. Not surprising as there have been tons of layoffs this year. Some roles feel stunted with no real opportunity to grow past a certain level.

Pros

World leader in autonomous vehicle development with vehicles already on the road in SF and Phoenix. Great work life balance, apart from the last-minute crunch associated to each quarterly software cut.

Cons

Slow pace of development and improvement. Less of a startup environment and more metric driven.

Pros

Great benefits as an Alphabet company. But not as many company-wide days off as Google in the pandemic. Smart and humble coworkers to work with Interesting work

Cons

Bad work life balance. So many people I know work long hours, not sure which teams really have good work-life balance as written in other reviews. It’s hard to get promotion (probably even harder than Google), and no clear career growth path in some teams. Managers are hit or miss, probably the influence from the Google culture of promoting good IC’s, who are not necessarily good people managers. Start up, so almost no equity liquidity, translating into overall low cash flow in the expensive Bay Area. But of course, for people who can wait longer time, you might be paid off.
