Pros

Free water and ramen, I guess, if food is more important to you than being treated with value, dignity and respect.

Cons

To name one... Waymo has fired a woman for reporting sexual harassment and they tried to cover it up. Waymo is not an equal opportunity workplace and does not protect the rights of women when bringing harassment to light.

Pros

The culture at Waymo supports each other and respects safety, and you benefit from that on the safety team. On a daily basis the work we do is interesting and I get to collaborate with other groups. There's a healthy focus on developing subject matter expertise in safety (learning different methods, techniques, tools, etc.) in parallel with the work you need to get done each quarter. COVID-19 work-from-home arrangements are generous and the team is attentive to helping you get your work done while managing work-life balance.

Cons

The company is still a start-up, so you need to be ready to accept that some of your work will be assessing incomplete systems, or early implementations that will change quickly. It can feel like extra work to be assessing a moving target, but you also get to feel ownership of a system's safety as it evolves.
