Pros

At a city level, WeWork is an incredible place to work. I've had multiple roles on various teams over five years and I've always had great respect for the people I work with. Work life balance is great and it's still a fun work environment, even through the publicity and profitability challenges of the last five years. I've never had a job I enjoy more in terms of my direct colleagues and the work I'm doing.

Cons

However, in five years I've been laid off twice (and rehired in other roles) through various reorganizations. While I appreciate that my colleagues have swiftly recognized my value and swooped me back up it feels as though I could easily be placed in a new position instead of dealing with layoffs over and over again. At the same time, despite only being unemployed by WeWork for a total of 3 weeks HR still refuses to recognize my five year anniversary with the company. Despite multiple meetings between HR, my director and myself it's "not possible" to give me the official recognition for the time I've spent here given the gap of less than 1 month. This feels like such a simple fix, and a way that WeWork could deliver on one of its "values" of "Do The Right Thing." Over the last year WeWork has removed their 401k matching and stopped paying our health insurance premiums (with no change to salaries to offset). It feels like honoring my five year anniversary is a simple thing to do given all of these negative changes, but it goes to show that the corporate and on-the-ground experience aren't necessarily the same. (Note: my paid time off and potential severance packages are different based on my start date, so beyond simple recognition for my time my benefits are also affected)
