Pros

Great medical, 401k package & company vehicle Senior Management is pleasant to work for For an Oil Company, it is a generally "clean" positive working environment Enjoy the freedom to do my job independently with little to no criticism Great feedback for growth & morale Educational reimbursement (at some levels, for some careers)

Cons

Incredibly non-competitive salaries (my colleagues at competitors are making 1.5x-2x more) Very little time off (vacation/holidays) Long hours and many nights in hotel rooms (at least 50%) Missed wife and child's birthday 2 years in a row/ NEVER been able to go to a dance recital

Pros

- Lots of exposure to SOX - Lots of travel to decent places - Competitive salaries - Larger company with room to move outside of audit. - Current IA Management has a plan to improve the work environment and efficiency of the group

Cons

- Company has little vision or direction - Comprised of many different businesses operating independently (little or no coordination or information sharing) - Senior Managers present roadblocks to initiatives for improvement presented by employees - Too many levels of management; Dir, Associate Dir, Senior Managers, Managers - Managers do not provide a fostering mentoring environment - Only SOX - SOX testing can be completed more efficiently - Current SOX reviews provide little value to the organization other than to "check the box" - No dedicated IT Audit function yet WFT operates numerous ERPs in an extremely complex network. - Only two weeks of vacation (industry standard is three) - Not very flexible with work hours (No 9X80s, no working from home, etc.)
