Pros

WP is very structured with LOTS of policies and procedures. They will train you well to have a strong sense of urgency, accuracy, and accountability. You will be paid well. If you are smart, hardworking, and attractive you will be promoted quickly up the ladder...just be prepared to be transferred to different properties in their portfolio...even to other states. The industry is stable because housing is a necessity, not a luxury. They have an endless supply of money to keep the properties looking good. My best advice is to work here for a few years at the beginning of your career, get some experience, then move on to another company that treats their employees better.

Cons

They only hire young, attractive, and slim people. If you are old or overweight don't bother applying. They will work you like a dog and expect you to work after hours on your own time. They do not care at all about a work-life balance. They only care about making more money for the family of millionaires who owns the company. They are now on the third generation of family working there so what they say goes without question. There have been several long-term employees terminated who worked in the corporate office. It's safer to work at one of the properties because you rarely see the regional director. If you work here do not think for a second they will have your back. Any loyalty you show them will not be returned. They treat employees as disposable and will fire you in a heartbeat. If they put you on a biweekly for performance issues, you better start looking for a job pronto because they are planning to terminate you. WP's leadership team of 25 people is 100% caucasian...no diversity.

We are sorry to learn of your feelings towards our company. While we are glad to hear that you liked our structure, policies and procedures, and compensation, it is disheartening to read the other comments. We want you to know that employees are hired for, and recognized for, qualities such as hard work and experience, not for physical traits. Our company understands the importance of work-life balance, and many of our employees enjoy flexible scheduling which includes some remote work. In addition, evaluation tools help to ensure there is a plan for growth and development. We have seen the success of these plans firsthand. Our employees’ success and happiness are extremely important to us. We are sorry that you feel this way about your experience. Please know that we appreciate your service.

Pros

Great starting pay! 15$ an hour. Friendly staff. Feels good solving resident problems. Air conditioned beautiful offices. 10% discount on apartment rent.

Cons

Insurance cost was extremely high! $125.00 every two weeks for just me! Very poor training. The company has no structured plan to train new hires. Employees have admitted this and so has management. The company will transfer you around to different apartments frequently. Some apartments are very nasty. You yourself wouldn't want to move into them. You will notice in general that most leasing consultants have not been with the company for more than 12 months. Some property managers have been with the company for less than 6 months and already are above you regardless of seniority. Usually the managers are 20-25 years old with less real job/life experience than you. ( Nepotism ) High turnover rate. The company will throw you out into the job with out training and expect you to figure out how to do it.... Sink or swim mentality. Trust me it's difficult when you have to answer the phone a million times your first day or a residents coming in with questions that you have no clue how to answer. You don't feel good at the end of the day when you know you want and need job specific training. All around a headache and not worth the stress unless this is your first job and you want to start off making $15 an hour.

Pros

Pay was great for my position. Growing company with lots of opportunity, if you are willing to relocate.

Cons

Medical conditions or pregnancy often end with termination. Lower level positions are often under paid and are expected to handle a great deal of stress. I met the CEO "for the first time" at least 5 times and he never remembered me or remembered my name despite being an upper level employee with 10+ years with the company.
