Terrible pay, one of the lowest in this type of Job. Lots of sexual discrimination at store and corporate level. Usually your gender will dictate what work you have to do and the rules you need to follow. They'll hire anybody, but they do not treat everyone equally. Terrible management from the top to the bottom. Corporate is filled with people who are completely out of touch with how the real world works. A lot of them got their position because a parent is high up in the company. And the others are rejects from other companies which either quit or got fired from their old job. You can tell most of the people calling the shots have no real idea of how to run a business. So it's up to the lowest level employees to clean up their mess. For 1/5 of the pay. Corporate constantly tries to skirt the line between what's legal and illegal. Store managers are basically just used to parrot what corporate wants done without question. Most managers are to terrified of their superiors to give any kind of negative feedback to corporate so nothing ever changes. And the other managers are just there because they've worked for the company for so long they're getting into the sunk cost fallacy issues. Not to mention the ones who refuse to leave because they know without their title, they'd have nothing in their life. Vacation time is basically non existent. Most companies is 6 months to get 2 weeks paid vacation, Weis is 5 years and that's only based on the number of hours you work a week. So if you are cut down to 10 hours a week, that's all the vacation you get. Corporate doesn't practice what they preach. They put rules and things in effect yet don't follow it themselves. Corporate always makes sure to give themselves holidays, weekends, etc off, yet they expect the lower level employees to devote as much time to their job as possible. They only close on Christmas day anymore. And you're expected to work every single holiday. They let certain employees knowingly steal company time and expect other employees around them to pick up their slack. Your opinion doesn't matter unless you go out of your way to pander to your superiors. It's kind of like the class pet who always gives the teacher an apple. Company president, Jonathan weis doesn't have any idea as to what's going on, and doesn't even live in the USA. He hears about nothing bad that goes on in the company. Only the good.
