Pros

I like my job. I have been in the meatroom for 27 years. Only lately there has been alot of difference in the ad plus the flyer and leaving items on sale from the week before with no notice ahead of time.

Cons

too many mistakes in the ad changes for Sunday mornings...the ad change is hard enough without notification of items staying on sale for part of week, and then changing in mid week without letting the departments know ahead of time. a meatroom should have more than one person working at times .the one I work in has only one person 4 days a week and it is very hard to get everything done properly.

Pros

Some of the customers are fun to interact with and most of the coworkers are fun to work with, and make the job more fun.

Cons

I often do not see the purpose behind many of the management's rules. Management has many regulations and always comes up with new ones.

Pros

Hard-working employees who do their best to make the most of a fairly crappy job. Management tends to be fairly lenient when it comes to breaks as long as you work hard and toe the line.

Cons

Suit-wearing corporate goons constantly make surprise visits to stores and do their best to make life a living hell for everyone there. I've seen department managers in tears because some schmuck screamed at them and threatened to write them up for arranging a display as per another corporate schmuck four days before; there's no communication, everyone thinks they know better than the people working at store-level, and they rule through fear and intimidation. Also, it's almost impossible to get full-time. I knew people who'd worked there for fifteen years and were never given full-time hours or benefits--my store's floral manager had to help in produce and on the salad bar to try to even round out 35 hours a week, if that. Finally, at least in my store, cleanliness was absolutely horrendous. I've worked in grocery for seven years for a number of companies, and never have I seen anything like Weis's hygiene standards. Cutting boards are wiped down at night with the same rag used to scrub greasy dishes, and never properly bleached or sanitized (I once saw a produce worker sweep them off with a floor broom and call it good enough); floors are barely swabbed down, corners are never cleaned, and you'd better not go looking in them unless you want to find years-old dessicated food. The company hires its own people to do safety and sanitation checks instead of having state officials do it--I saw so many things that should have shut the store down if OSHA standards were actually followed.
