Pros

The management and other employees within each individual branch are one positive reason to work at WesBanco. Most of the branches are comprised of individuals who work well together. Management within the individual branches are usually understanding of personal needs and family needs.

Cons

One of the cons about working at WesBanco is the treatment of the employees by senior management. Though senior management often does not recognize the outstanding job that many of its' employees are doing, management within the branches usually compensate for this. Employees used to be able to say that they were proud to work for the company. This is a company that many would have said is family oriented and secure. Unfortunately, this is no longer the case, as WesBanco has begun eliminating employee positions. Many of the people and positions that were eliminated were top performers and it was said that the decisons were not based on performance. The callousness with which WesBanco treats its' employees is disheartening. Pulling 40+ employees into a room and telling them that half of them will lose their jobs is not a compassionate way to treat those who have worked hard to make their branches and their company successful. This is no longer a place that one can feel comfortable working. WesBanco has lost its' sense of security and has also lost the most valuable things, loyalty and dedication from its' staff.

Poor pay and no recognition

Pros

In the city of Wheeling jobs are at a premium. WesBanco offers a good starting place for individuals without a lot of experience. The department managers are generally nice and accommodating. The benefits are alright and include good health care from 2 or 3 companies, but premiums are pretty high. 401k is also included. With all of the retail stores paying minimum wage, WesBanco offers an alternative. If you live in the Wheeling area and you don't want to drive to Pittsburgh for a job WesBanco can be a good alternative. If you come in at the right positon this may be a good company for you.

Cons

The vacation time offered at WesBanco is one of the biggest disappointments. Also there is no recognition for good employee performance. It is just assumed that you should be doing a good job. Raises are insignificant. There is always an excuse why they are only 3% or less, while excutive management makes millions in their own bonuses. Banking is generally a male oriented business and that is no different here. It would be nice if management acknowledge that the "little" people keep this bank running and we are set the tone for customer satisfaction. There is little incentive to go the "extra mile" for a company that won't do that for it's employees.

Pros

Health insurance benefits, bank holidays, work hours (Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5pm), hands off management (to an extent)

Cons

Unfair in promotions, lack of respect towards some employees, low employee moral, lacking work / life balance, poor comunication from the corporation and senior management on the future of the company (succession plans for many pending retirements), employees pay to park in small town WV, not consistent with how employees are treated
