      Opportunities to work in diverse areas of education research, evaluation, assessment, technical support, etc.

      Cons

      Without a PhD, it can be hard to advance past a certain point.

      Pros

      The people at WestEd are generally well intentioned. Division staff do wonderful work and really care about the mission. There's a lot of DEI work going on, and the staff-led ERGs are amazing.

      Cons

      Departments are way understaffed (but again, the people are great and try to be as helpful as possible). Leaders have a hard time committing to clear internal processes.

      Pros

      Executive leadership is outstanding. They are supportive, direct, and are clearly trying to make improvements to the organization. Staff are very bright and professional. Business development team is helpful and supportive as are most of the infrastructure units (Contracts, Legal, IT).

      Cons

      Very few cons, but infrastructure teams are understaffed. Secondly, some of the program units are so focused on their individual projects that they are not interested in following procedures or collaborating with peers. More on that in "Advice for Management"
