Pros
Depends on your team, but work is very steady. Did not experience any layoffs in my departments/teams during the pandemic and in this economy. In fact, the company ended up doubling in the last 4-5 years. Overall good culture of caring and intelligent staff. Very competent and well meaning colleagues. Opportunities for growth are there, but it depends on your supervisor, managers, and personal advocacy.
Cons
As with all research, if you are not careful you will be siloed into specific subject matters or methodologies. While the salaries are generous compared to other companies, I found that the pay discrepancy between colleagues odd. For a company that is generally very progressive and open-minded, the difference in pay between staff varied so greatly. Sometimes the company is a game of "who you know" to get you the support, PD, or pay you deserve.
