Pros

Relatively good salary for a non-profit. Great benefits, except no paid parental leave. Generally good mission. Passionate, wonderful employees.

Cons

STEM program has major issues. Little room for growth for mid-level employees, a lot of opacity with regards to funding, absurd office politics, poor communication, essentially no way to provide feedback to management.

Thank you for taking the time to write us a review - we particularly value viewpoints from our current employees. We encourage all managers to have an open door policy, and this is true of STEM management as well. If you feel you need some guidance as to how to approach your management, you are welcome to consult with the HR team as well. We would also welcome the opportunity to assist you in understanding how the career pathways work at WestEd to provide that "room for growth" you are looking for. We do pride ourselves on our engaged employees, mission and our excellent benefits!

Pros

Everyone is genuine happy and all work together towards the mission! This is a place I would like to return after having more experience in the education field.

Cons

I can’t remember any cons while working there aside from it is difficult to transition within the company.

Thank you for your work with WestEd – we value former employees who take the time to provide their views and opinions on WestEd’s policies. I’m glad you remember your colleagues and work experiences fondly – we try hard to maintain a professional, supportive, and well-rewarded environment. The nature of grant- and contract-funded work does mean there are shifts in work volume; at times this results in a program's inability to maintain 100% work hours for all staff. WestEd is proud to continue our high level of professionalism, contributions towards retirement, and generous time off as part of our normal course of business.
