Pros

Interesting work. Nice facilities - cafe and gym. Private offices, not cubicles.

Cons

The IT management is awful. They do not know how to deal with their employees. No growth, no training, no team building. Horrible place for a junior employee. Terrible place for individuals with more experience because your growth professionally or personally is not encouraged. At Westat, the IT staff are not respected and not considered critical project team members - they are simply worker bees who need to be told what to do hence the quality of the work suffers greatly.

Pros

Flexible schedule when you can get hours

Cons

Low pay ,No pay raises ever after you reach 11.60 hour and pay increase can be taking away if stats fall. Hours are very hard to get they are very limited on most projects you are lucky is you can get the 15 hours min that they require you to work each week. Long periods of time off in between studies. No set schedules

Pros

Flexible about time and they have a gym.

Cons

Most managers haven't a clue on how to manage staff. They have managers that are some of the meanest and nastiest people I have ever seen. You only get paid on the 5th and the 20th. They count your retirement and bonus as part of your salary. However, they tax your bonus at a bonus rate and not as the salary rate. You can't move up in the company unless someone is willing to push you up, otherwise you will leave (as I did) or die in your position. For a company with over 2K employees, you can count on one hand the number of non-Caucasian VPs or associate directors.
