Pros

work from home, interesting clients, always can learn more about the job. Great part time work.

Cons

Training is brutal. You are sent to California or somewhere else for 10 days to 2 weeks of rigidly scheduled training. You get copies of every word the trainer will say - it is also projected on a screen. If you don't turn your page at the right time, they think you are not following along and they will point you out in class and tell you to "keep up." It is impossible to describe.

Pros

-Excellent Benefits for Non-Exempt Employees including near fully subsidized Health Care. -Respectable Pay pursuant to the responsibilities. -Interesting and always evolving Project based work. -Very flexible scheduling depending on the Project you're working under. -Advancement possibilities due to hiring within the company.

Cons

-Management structure is deplorable. -Clear, near insulting, separation of who Westat deems "Educated" and "Uneducated" individuals. -New ideas and constructive critiques from Non-Exempt (Hourly) employees are shunned and looked down upon. -Very little, if any, personal engagement from the Project Leads and top tier Managers to the general employee population. Essentially ignore if possible, delegate if necessary.

Pros

Company has experience and is active in a wide variety of research areas Top notch in-house research methodologists and statisticians Ability to obtain experience on multiple types of projects Generally a collegial corporate atmosphere although competitive On-site fitness center with equipment and different types of classes.

Cons

Many projects staffed so tightly that many at all levels end up working long hours and/or weekends quite frequently. (Burn out) Newer in-house support groups and centralization of certain project activities placing a heavy financial burden on projects. As at all large companies, a mix of admirable senior management and those who shouldn't be in leadership positions given their lack of skills.
