No real promotions, simply salary raises that push you into another grade level No clear expectations of tasks by grade level Review process is very much a black box Career trajectory is largely determined by factors outside of an individual's control Communication between project staff is often poor and roles are not explicitly defined

Pros

Company is employee-owed so I get a dividend check every year. My supervisors and colleagues are smart, dedicated, and caring. The pay is consistent with others in the field. I have a flexible work schedule. The work itself is interesting, and I feel like I am contributing (in a small way) to making the world a better place.

Cons

Location is in Rockville MD, which is not the most happening place.

Self contained don't really need to leave the campus for anything.

Cons

Poor disorganized management and I suspect nepotism or other improprieties in hiring as the Intranet makes clear what new hire qualifications are and more qualified people aren't being considered in comparison to what's being brought aboard however a little research will reveal that this isn't something that is new to the company. lots of Interesting personalities also. pay is below par
