Cons
Westat is not to be taken seriously when they claim they are proud to be a diverse company. I don't see how a company that hires and keeps minorities in low level positions can boast about being diverse. They placed 279/500 on the top 500 list for diversity and display it on their careers website. How is that something to be proud of? Is HR aware of the racist comments made by white people in management positions here? Westat's careers website has a picture of two black people and a white man. The black people are covered by a blue banner while the white man is prominently displayed. At the bottom of the page is a black hand shaking a white hand. These two pictures are truly an insult to minorities working here. Throughout my time at Westat, I worked alongside many black and hispanic people who were in the same boat as me, trying to move up within the company only to be rejected a promotion or rejected a transfer to a new department. I'm so glad I left this company for greener pastures. I didn't even receive an offer for an exit interview with HR when I gave my two week notice. It just goes to show that people of color are just not wanted in management positions at this company. Look at the hierarchy. The President and CEO are white men. VP's are all white.
