Worst company I've worked for

Pros

Not applicable. There is nothing positive about this company. WAB is a completely dysfunctional company. . . . . .

Cons

If you're looking for a company that takes pride in their employees by developing their skill set, encourages employee learning or promotes a culture of innovation this is NOT the company for you. WAB does not take career development seriously. Managers either hold onto talent by preventing department changes or do not take the time to develop your skills in fear that you'll "replace them". If you're looking for a company that you can build a career with, keep looking. You may have great ideas, but very soon you'll realize no matter how great your ideas are, they will be shut down due to the resistance to change.

Thanks for the feedback and review. Your thoughts re: career development at Western Alliance are helpful. No matter the company, it’s our experience that some managers truly excel at this while others need reinforcement on this critical part of their jobs. So your comments help us know that every manager needs be focused on helping employees grow and succeed. It’s true that we have budgets for employee development in every department, but hearing that you did not benefit from the kind of training you have in mind is useful feedback. Our goal for Western Alliance is to continue to be entrepreneurial and focused on the future, offering individuals a strong platform to build on their talents. We can cite many instances of growth and movement for employees throughout our company, and many people stay with the bank – in fact, average tenure for employees is five years, and 50% have been with the company between five and 15 years. This stat is even more meaningful because our organization has added nearly 300 new jobs over the last three years, which of course moves the tenure average down. We regret very much that your experience was not a positive one, but for many, Western Alliance is a great place to build a long-term career and we do pride ourselves on retaining and rewarding outstanding people.

Pros

Stock options, some really good people work there, but unfortunately are stuck in bad situations.

Cons

Moral, senior management is inconsistent, some middle managers are selfish, incentive pay very subjective. Poor working environment comes from the top of the house. They are either rewarding you or building a case to get rid of you.

Thank you for your review. Yes, we are a high-performing organization and it’s because of the people who work here. We are proud to have again made the top 10 in the Forbes list of “Best Banks in America” – and we know we couldn’t accomplish this without great people. We’re sorry to hear you believe that training was an issue – in fact, we have substantial training and employee professional development resources and programs in place. From education reimbursement to budgets and programs for professional development and attendance at industry conferences, our bank invests in our people and many employees grow here and build positive, long-term careers. We’re sorry this wasn’t the case for you. We hope you have found a great employment fit elsewhere.
