Pros

Great work-life balance Competitive pay Opportunities for career and professional growth Smart, dedicated team members (I love my team!) Pet-friendly office

Cons

The company has recently experienced significant growth so the typical pain points that come with fast growth are sometimes apparent. However, I'm confident the company will be able to work through these challenges -- they already are.

Pros

People & culture – Our engineering organization is composed of smart, dedicated professionals who genuinely care about building meaningful solutions. There’s a strong sense of ownership and pride in the work. We also value diversity of thought and interdisciplinary collaboration, which keeps us adaptive and innovative. Mission‑driven product focus – As a company, we’re not just chasing features; we’re solving real problems for pet parents and their pets. That purpose unites the organization and gives engineering a clear north‑star. Growing opportunities – Because Whisker is scaling, there’s huge room for personal growth, career mobility, and leadership development. Engineers are empowered to take initiative, break new ground, and influence the direction of our products and architecture. Supportive infrastructure & benefits – The company offers competitive compensation and benefits (which I’ve observed firsthand), and supports hybrid/remote flexibility. We also have a pet‑friendly office environment, which reinforces our commitment to living the pet‑care purpose in our everyday work. Engineering leadership mindset – From an engineering lens, we’re building robust systems, investing in modern architecture, and layering in data, AI / ML and connected‑device thinking. It’s an exciting time to lead here, because we’re balancing scale with craftsmanship, and structure with agility.

Cons

Being at a high‑growth company means that some processes are still maturing—there are moments of ambiguity or “figure‑it‑out” challenges. As we scale, maintaining our culture and communication rigor becomes more important—so we’re doubling down on leadership development and cross‑team clarity.

Pros

The team is full of wonderful people who are passionate about pets and the company’s mission. It’s fun to be in the office and collaborate with people in different roles, and having pets around is a huge plus.

Cons

For some, it may be a bit fast-paced of an environment, and you must be adaptable with the rate of growth!
