Pros

The seasonal events with open bar are fun. The staff is pretty diverse and queer which was cool.

Cons

The work is mundane and there is no upward growth. Management are super contradictory and do not trust their employees. The work space was cool since you are surrounded by art. The folks there act super cool and chill and like they are your friends, but they’re not. It is lowkey a cult. Also everyone makes the same amount of money, even if someone works harder and actually does the work. So that sucks.

Pros

Amazing Collection with world class art Great colleagues

Cons

Opportunities for advancement or salary increases are extremely rare. Leadership often lacks direction and wastes valuable time pursuing ideas that are ultimately abandoned. The department chair, in particular, seems disconnected from the day-to-day realities of staff work—frequently assigning impractical tasks that are later scrapped without acknowledgment of the time or effort invested. We once had a "close looking" session and were told to close out eyes. Team members are regularly expected to go above and beyond their job descriptions without additional compensation or meaningful recognition. Programs like Free Second Sunday are poorly managed, with little clarity or support from leadership, leaving staff to figure things out on their own.

Pros

You get to work in a museum and meet interesting, talented people.

Cons

There's a reason why this place has FIVE unions. Stay away if you're colored, older and/or a woman. Upper management will always take care of each other regardless of labor law or union violations. The breakroom is only as big as a public bathroom but at least the mouse traps work and we have one microwave.
