Pros

Probably the best reason to work at Whole Foods is the work life balance. People are generally friendly and the work can be interesting.

Cons

In the I.T. department, salaries and benefits are way below average. At a benefit category 2, which covers most Programmer/Analysts I's and II's, you only get 15 days off a year. No holidays, no sick time. Just 15 days. The health care plan is one of the worst I have ever had.

Pros

People are young and fun. Customers are high end. Products and services offered are top notch. 20% employee discount! This was one of my first jobs ever and they paid well compared to the alternatives in the area. Whole Foods has been a top company to work for by Fortune for many years now.

Cons

Little potential for growth as a career. As a cashier you end up working late or really early. They put you on a probation period before you get a discount on anything. I believe working for Safeway guarantees much higher pay because they are unionized, but I believe that it is much more difficult to get a job with them.
