Cons

Toxic Work Environment: The GRC-Infosec team at Wiley Sri Lanka is plagued with a toxic culture that severely hampers productivity and morale. The atmosphere is tense and stressful, with constant backbiting and a lack of genuine teamwork. Favoritism: There is a blatant favoritism towards employees who previously worked with the current managers. These individuals are given undue credit for work they haven't done and are promoted over more deserving employees. This favoritism creates an environment of resentment and distrust. Inconsistent Work Ethic: Some team members show up to work and put in the effort, while others seem to get away with doing the bare minimum or even not showing up regularly. This inconsistency in work ethic is not addressed by management, further contributing to the dysfunctional work environment. Cult Mentality: There is a cult-like mentality among certain cliques within the team. If you are not part of the "in-group," your ideas and contributions are often dismissed or ignored. This stifles innovation and discourages new employees from sharing their perspectives. Credit Theft: It's common for certain individuals to take credit for the work done by others. This is particularly demoralizing for those who put in the hard work only to see someone else receive the recognition and rewards. Lack of Accountability: Management fails to hold employees accountable for their actions. This lack of accountability leads to a sense of impunity among favored employees and frustration among those who are trying to perform their duties diligently. Poor Leadership: Leadership in the information security team is weak and ineffective. There is a lack of clear direction and support, which leaves team members feeling unsupported and uncertain about their roles and responsibilities. Unhealthy Competition: The environment fosters unhealthy competition rather than collaboration. Employees are pitted against each other, leading to a cutthroat atmosphere that is detrimental to overall team success.
