Pros

Wiley is has excellent benefits and considers itself "The Place to Be" It has a 8:30-4:30 work day, company sponsored cafeteria, company bus that takes you to and from Manhattan, 401K and traditional pension, very nice holiday parties, mother's room for lactating mothers and an all around congenial work environment.

Cons

There is really a lack of career development. There are basically 3 tracks: Editorial, Marketing and Production. If you do not start out in sales there is very little chance that you can advance in Editorial or Marketing. Unfortunately, you can not get any entry sales rep position unless you are < 3 years out of college. What that means is if you don't make publishing your career choice out of college forget about it for a career with growth.

A Good Place to Work

Pros

Overall it's a company that offers a supportive environment, offers flexibility for work/home life, fair benefits packages, and opportunities to develop and grow within the company. It's also an extremely stable company that's been around over 200 years.

Cons

It's a large company, and therefore has some of the bureaucratic headaches that go along with a large organization... sometimes changes that would benefit the company and should not be difficult to implement take forever to move forward (or don't get going at all).

Pros

Good people, got to work remotely

Cons

Too little pay for too much work. Feels like upper leadership doesn't listen.
