Pros

Innovative technology and progressive growth strategies. Big company with fair bit of resources but still maintains a smaller company feel. Will continue to be competitive in current climate.

Cons

Large disconnect between management and 'grunts'. Very prominent management 'in-crowd' culture where often those involved in 'strategy' meetings parade their importance and stature a little more than you would normally expect (recognizing this happens at most places, just not to this extent).

Pros

A venerable book publisher with a strong global sales base. One of the top academic publishers in the world with a truly impressive author group and wonderful colleagues.

Cons

Books program has all but been eliminated. Management seems adrift as to what direction to take the company next. A big gap between those working with clients and those working at the corporate strategy level meant that you could rarely make good on your promises of service to clients.

Pros

Amazing people. With a 200+ year history of achievement, Wiley has attracted many of the brightest people in the field. The Research business is growing steadily, and is an exciting place to be.

Cons

The book business is in steep decline, and the parts of Wiley that are dependent on that market are feeling the pinch. Layoffs are frequent in that part of the business, and upward mobility is a function of how many executives have been let go in the last round.
