Pros

Wiley was once an amazing place to work There are still vestiges of the old culture They are generous with time off and work-life balance is still part of the culture The Hoboken office is in a good location, near the train

Cons

In 3-4 short years this company has gone from being a great place to work to a place where everyone is waiting to see if their job will be eliminated in the next reorg. Some really great people in senior management have been let go and virtually everyone is demoralized. The pay is based on publishing salaries but they are trying to recruit from the broader information and technology industries so they can't really compete. Promotions are not that easy to come by and the increases that are offered with promotions are insulting.

Pros

The biggest pros are the colleagues that you get to work with. Most are really smart, hard-working and collaborative. Salary and benefits were also good.

Cons

New upper management is rapidly destroying the company culture and replacing it with a youth-oriented, buzzword-driven model. This new upper management has no loyalty to company values or long-time employees. Favoritism rules.

Was Once A Great Place

Pros

Employees once prided themselves on working their entire career at Wiley. Great culture and very smart people that were very smart about running a profitable and well-managed business. There was once tremendous trust in the leadership of the company and how they allowed people to develop and grow within a nurturing and structured environment.

Cons

Wiley has not managed the changes in user consumption well. Their college division and journals business are not innovative and lack strategies for organic growth outside of acquisition. Their trade division was decimated and is now re-investing itself without out thoughtful plans for integration to the other businesses. Poor leadership.
