Pros

Relaxed setting, friendly people, great work/life balance.

Cons

Projects are often limited due to budget constraints. Difficult to advance without switching divisions. The company is undergoing a massive reorganization right now and many people have been let go. Office morale is a little low right now.

Pros

The people you will work with are smart and well spoken. It's a really pleasant work environment overall. The headquarters are in a great location. It is the type of job you can get comfortable in; probably ideal for someone later in their career.

Cons

If you start in an entry level position it is very hard to move up. Your job satisfaction will come mainly from the people your work with rather than your actual job functions; so hopefully you are placed on a good team. The position can be very monotonous and dry. There is no training period...it's learn as you go. Basically everyone has their own way of doing something, causing lots more mistakes and delays for things that should be simple. More set in stone standards to to be put in place. The salary is also very low, and the raise is small as well. Given the cost of living in NY it makes it hard to enjoy all the city has to offer on that salary.

Pros

Managers are good and the benefits are pretty good.

Cons

Upper management looks at employees as just products and not as people. Over the last year or so there have been hundreds of layoffs not based on seniority or merit. They have have been very upfront that they are beginning to outsource most of their editorial work to other vendors outside of North America and Europe.
