Pros

-Relaxed office atmosphere -Line managers and local colleagues are terrific -Great work/life balance I love the people I work with, and the company's been very good to me since I started. I really enjoy the work.

Cons

-Advancement opportunities hard to come by unless willing to switch jobs -Technology needs overhaul -Massive reorganization that's resulting in a lot of good people losing their jobs, but most of the decision-makers keeping theirs -Terrible internal communication In a time of huge change for the publishing industry, Wiley's following suit with a lot of competitors and reorganizing. This is to be expected, but it's concerning that so many people are being let go globally while most of the upper leadership remains intact with new layers added in. Communication regarding this reorganization has also been severely lacking.

Not what it used to be

Pros

You don't have to work really hard to succeed. Sure, people work really hard, stress themselves out and make everyone else crazy by how hard they are working. But there are plenty of people who phone it in, literally, and get away with it. On site cafeteria. Average food, but it's close.

Cons

Hoboken is one horrible place to commute to. There are no promotions, and teeny (2% or less) yearly salary increases. You can be in a job for 15 years with no title change and be told you're doing a great job. Why would you ever want a new title? You're doing great. If someone leaves, even your boss, you're doing his or her job with no title upgrade, salary bump or even a thank you.
