Pros

Good dental, vision and health insurance. ESOP stock plan is great. You can get a lot of hours if you just do your job at a standard level.

Cons

After 8 years of being employed there, the last time I got a raise was 4 years ago. They cap your wages after a certain amount of time. The only way to get that is to have them officially grant you as a full-time status employ, which is next to impossible.

Pros

The health coverage is great. It is a rapidly growing company that is eager to gobble up more of Wal-Mart's market share and they are very successful. I believe that the company's stock is undervalued. If one has an ESOP going, I think it will be valuable. WinCo stock is a nice additive to one's retirement portfolio, as this "winning company" knocks Wal-Mart back. You can climb the ladder quickly, if you want. A cashier could definitely retire from this company and be fairly well off. They also have a 401K program with no contribution from the company (the ESOP is really great, though.). The staffing is sufficient and the store is usually decent, even when extremely busy. WinCo truly is impressive to me and I am proud to see this evolution in retail culture. If continued, this is an outstanding model of how retail should be. I still rate it 3 stars due to cons.

Cons

No cellphone allowed on your person. Regardless if you have a green card, or if your state legalized it... for a "drug free workplace" you are not allowed to use cannabis (talking about on your own time, obviously), however, their drug policy states that you are allowed to drink alcohol, on the clock, for social (upper management) functions and they have free coffee in the break room, creating an interesting ethical conundrum. Random drug testing occurs and it is done immediately, in store, by a drug testing company. There can be lots of petty drama as inexperienced people eagerly try and go up and step on everyone they can. Training is more like being tossed in the fire so you better not be shy of asking questions. If you clock in 30 seconds late after 2 minute leeway either direction, you can get 3 points on your record (they expire) 9 will get you fired.
