Pros

There is a great deal of money to be made right off the bat. And hours based raises guarantee you will get raises. The benefits package is also very, very good! One of the best I've ever seen, union or non-union. The employee stock ownership plan is also very lucrative if you're with the company long enough.

Cons

The compensation "tops out" around $16/hr. depending on where you work, in a part-time position. The hours based raises do pose a problem if you are very good at your job, because you will make less than incompetent people who happened to get hired first. Can't knock the benefits. Promotions are hard to come by because it is so competitive, and political. All of the supervisiory positions take at least five years to move into and are somewhat based on seniority. This is a very unprofessional environment, just make sure you play the politics and make nice with upper management.

Pros

Good stable job in a horrible economy. Equipment is excellent. Employee stock option as a retirement plan has an excellent return rate.

Cons

You always feel expendable. New upper level management has a different approach. Spending money at a record pace, making what appears to be bad decisions on their part and then preaching to the employees about how much the employees are hurting the company.

Pros

Hands down the benefits. Pay is "ok". Paid vacation is decent as is sick pay. Being alot busier than other grocery chains.

Cons

Pay should be greater, especially for PICs who are the backbone of the company and enforce the will of the store manager and the policies of the company on a personal and daily basis. PICs make the same salary as a checker that stands in one place all day just beeping groceries, yet have management responsiblities and duties. Little care is given to the hourly empolyees, whether it be ridiculou scheduling that doesn't allow for anything that could be considered a "life" to proper training to lousy managers who have only scraped by in the company because of other people who support and correct mistakes before they are recognized to be complete failures to promoting unqualified employees to PICs when they have neither the intelligence or ability to properly handle the responsibilities or duties of said position. The workplace is like a high school and everyone stabs anyone in the back for any reason.
