This company has the problems of a startup, yet a linear structure, rigid hierarchy and bureaucracy that gives very little managing power to local branches.
The results are sadly that several crucial departments are functioning very haphazardly, they are way too slow to hire new staff and there is no clear plan on how to negotiate growth in a way that doesn't severely negatively impact existing employees.
The influence of individual employees over their tasks, projects they manage and their growth opportunities in the company is very minimal and any reported issues to managers or HR are treated with the slowest response.
One of the worst things was the fact that despite the pandemic - and contrary to government guidelines - I was still expected to come to the office and WFH support was dismal.
