Pros

decent work flexibility and ok work life balance

Cons

I'd avoid this place at all costs. Company has history of numerous failed acqusitions and AMEC Foster is going to be another big mess. Its just one big mess after another. Things seemed to be better back before when it was PSN, Kenny, and Mustang. Did they even think things through? Too much in a hurry to catch up to competition and trying to merge consolidate everything when they cant even get themselves and simple mergers done correctly. No one has any idea what is going on. Everyone is in the dark - managment tells us nothing. We are all just waiting around without direction or purpose. The blind are leading the blind. There's going to be major layoffs from the merger. Alot of smart people have already left knowing what is coming. Everybody only looks out for themselves, no one cares about the entire company. It is like several small factions all comepting against each other. Cant get anything accomplished or done. People abuse and ignore policy or procedures although their doesnt seem to be much of those around to follow anyways. Someone also had the bright idea to outsource IT. Response time is very very slow and issues rarely get resolved. Frustrating when you have phone, computer, or network problem. You'll get a phone call or IT overseas around 2AM and if you do not respond then they automatically close your ticket. Pay is lower compared to market. Benefits are horrible and expensive

Pros

Opportunity to work in the O&G industry. Other than that, can't think of any!

Cons

Nepotism applies when it comes to distributing work and promotions. If you are in the click then you’ll be fine, otherwise, it doesn’t matter how good you are in what you are doing and what your clients say about you to your line management. Little to no support in terms of training and no career progression structure. Progression seems to be only via active participation in the office politics. As a result, some seniors and managers are completely useless; this creates a risk for both the Company and the Industry! Too many managers for the current headcount. This creates pressure on engineers to become more billable and creates a very unstructured and chaotic environment. No space for new and/or innovative ideas; the focus is on burning hours and getting clients pay for them.
