Pros

You actually build strong relationships here with both students and families. Everyone is really focused on finding strengths of each student and helping them develop that further... so you feel like you're really making an impact. Teachers are super dedicated (they care about supporting each other and doing the right thing for students) and go above and beyond all the time - so students often keep in touch and let you know how/what they are doing, which is awesome. You can take the initiative to learn new things and grow here, which is nice too.

Cons

Planning time can be tight for bigger events - the school year goes fast, and you need to stay on top of details to be ready for clubs/teams/events throughout the year.

Pros

The facility is nice and the students are energetic. Some colleagues try hard to make the best of difficult situations.

Cons

Working here was extremely difficult. The principal enforces a rigid approach that leaves no room for teachers to use their own professional experience, teaching styles, or strengths. Everything must follow her exact expectations, with intense oversight on nearly every decision. Instructions frequently change without notice. You are given one set of directions, only for them to shift later, leaving teachers to face the consequences when issues arise. Leadership appears to focus primarily on keeping students happy above all else. When teachers attempt to set appropriate boundaries or hold students accountable, administrators require constant justification for those choices, often providing little to no meaningful support. Many middle school students are placed in classes or levels that do not match their needs, which contributes to ongoing behavioral challenges. These students frequently challenge and show disrespect toward teachers. Even when educators follow all guidelines and act appropriately, any student or parent complaint results in the teacher being left unsupported. One area of the school has experienced ongoing teacher turnover due to these problems, yet senior leadership does not seem to address the underlying issues or show concern. Teachers face high expectations paired with inconsistent guidance and minimal backing, which makes the role exhausting and unsustainable.
