Pros

This is the highest paying child care center in the area. maybe even all of New Hampshire. The people who work here are really great. Everyone is educated and passionate about children. There's a really good chance you'll make some great friends here. Offers health care and other benefits which a lot of places don't.

Cons

I think the biggest con here can be summed up with what happened last year on glassdoor. Someone posted a review of World Academy and while it was harsh it was honest and true. Admin found out and demanded to know who wrote it. Teachers were questioned and the review was taken down. The review was replaced with the above review, and administration decided that they needed to be less trusting of their teachers. The attitude really is that the image of this place is more important than anything else. When things go wrong instead of fixing it they worry about their image. They will be super suspicious of teachers who might be saying something that will make them look bad. They'll even blame teachers for things that administration did wrong. There are other things that are definite cons but this is the biggest one. Teachers are caught in a no win situation. If we don't complain they think everything is fine. But if we do complain we are labeled as negative and not a good fit. The turnover rate for teachers is incredibly high even for a child care center.

We take pride in excellence and quality here. We promise it to families and children and are determined to provide it. For some people it is difficult to be a team member and accept that quality and hard work matter. For all of us that do provide it, professionally and willingly, it is distressing to see one or two people tear down their wonderful work. there is a reason our staff of 70 teachers has been here so long...they are appreciated and recognized for the REAL work they do. If you are not a good fit for our mission and vision, you should just leave. It is a choice to provide good work for your employer or complain until your negativism is not healthy for our school climate and culture and you are invited to leave.

Worst job ever

Pros

Teachers are great, school is nice, has 2 pools, families are friendly. Was close to home for me. Pay was ok.

Cons

Owner is abusive and crazy. She would belittle you in the middle of the hallway in front of other staff and families. She was only about making money and not caring about her staff. Just about all the admin were nasty to work for. No support. No communication. And no appreciation. This job left me feeling sick to even go back each day. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

You are obviously the partner to the commentor before. It is clear that your opinion is an aggressive response to your immediate exit, as for over 40 years this school has been recognized for the quality and service it provides..to staff and families. Being asked to provide quality and excellence does mean you need to work harder and smarter. Turnover here is NOT excessive but par for trying to find high quality fits for our positions. It takes special professionals to work in an accredited program. When it was discovered that this was not a good fit for you, it would have been wiser to just leave rather than be invited to do so.

Quite frankly the worst place I have ever worked.

Pros

The students were generally really good kids. Pay was okay--not good, not bad. Benefits were below average.

Cons

The owner is truly the worst human being I have ever encountered. She will make your life miserable should you decide to work here. I worked in the front office for a short time. The owner literally said that she "didn't think I had the smarts" for the job. I consider myself a relatively intelligent, friendly, hard-working person who is pretty easy to get along with. I am also quite tough, and I rarely let things get me down. This woman made me cry every single day with the things she said to me. I found out from one of the other front actually set me up for failure because they found the REAL person they wanted in the role shortly after they hired me. The place is unethical and the morale across the board is ridiculously low. DAILY, I would see teachers and other staff members WEEP and feel so defeated after the things the owner has said to them. People would get fired on a weekly basis--sometimes 2 or 3 in the course of a week. Just on a whim--because the owner didn't like the person. It's a school, so illnesses spread like wildfire. One time, norovirus was spreading across the school like CRAZY, and students and teachers were calling out sick a lot. The owner had a staff meeting literally yelling at the staff for getting sick, and saying she didn't want anyone else calling out. I'm sorry, but you want people coming in with explosive "issues" from both ends, spreading an extremely contagious illness? And this school is open NO MATTER WHAT, so even if the state declares a snow emergency during a blizzard/Nor-Easter (and literally EVERY OTHER SCHOOL is CLOSED, you're STILL expected to come in. It's insane and asinine and dangerous. I truly mean this with all sincerity: I'm not sure if the owner is mentally ill or just mean, but it's not worth it. Your self-esteem will be in the toilet if you work here, so trust me--don't do it. You'd be better off at McDonald's until you find something better.

We are serious about providing quality and excellence to our families. We are professionals who take our mission seriously. That is why so many staff have stayed here for over 30 years. If you do not fit our climate and culture it is important that you leave before being invited to go after serious transgressions were discovered. Your feedback is an indication of the person you are and what we needed removed from our positive culture. Our families love our school and have for almost 40 years. That speaks for itself. Your TMI is untrue and sad.
