Thanks for your input. Depending on the situation and the new position, promotions aren't always accompanied by a pay increase.

Pros

Going to mention everything in pro as one needs to how to manage cons and convert them into pro and if you can not then stay away. General pros - good medical benefit, some building are renovated Pros with both sides - the company is 25 yr old but 50% employees are less than 5 yr old so that means it has all the pains of growing teens. good side lot of opportunities of growth, bad side there is vacuum between old timers and new timers. also recently they are trying to some industry standard like only fixed number of people can report to manager so lots of new managers and leads. again good part - lots of chance as early as 6 months, bad part its become hierarchical with lots of overheads added to the system. in last 3 yrs two layers added between my first manager and me and its not that my first manager is promoted. but good part two more people became lead or managers. good 401k match but you get only once after year end and so if you leave in-between you get nothing. Lots of parties with food and drinks but if you don't drink then you will be lost. Informal culture - dressing, language etc - in some departments words are common. good part you don't have to careful, bad part you should be fine with it. in some departments they expect you will tell manager if you are looking outside. its part of no surprises on both side. Take it which ever way you like. Lot of family stuff. Some families have as many as 6+ people working here. good part if you have qualified relative its easy to get him/her in. bad part - you don't know who is relative of whom. Remember to always check last name and match with sr management people last name. of course it may not work always as relation can be not necessary with matching last name. there is nothing bad about it but you never know who will relay what to whom. there are lot of opportunities to build relationships on and off the work. lots of freedom to express ideas, implement solutions. good part - even if it falls apart no worries. bad part - lots of technical debt with people done their own things. recently silo was big thing to crack down. lots of restructure. your seat and manager can change very frequently. good part - you don't have to put with same seat or manager for long time. bad part - you can loose good seat/manager quickly too. lots of meetings. its very common to have 5 to 6 hrs of 8 hr day in meeting. but still work is done so go figure. good part - lots of chance to meet people, interact, innovate etc. bad part - you should get comfortable with meetings. Overall decent place to work in STL but nothing out of ordinary to relocate in STL.

Cons

as mentioned everything is put in pro section.

Thanks. Drinking at parties is by no means a requirement. Yes, we have family members who work at WWT but you shouldn't have to worry about who you talk to.
