Pros

Pay is decent for the workload, and assuming you are producing more than you consume, you’re generally left alone. Benefits are actually on the better side of good, but don’t expect bonuses or substantial raises unless you’re already drastically underpaid. PTO amount is nothing special and is on the skimpy side. All in all, it’s a job, and I’ve worked in worse environments.

Cons

Red tape everywhere. Everything takes several weeks to get done. No one has any urgency. Almost all of the grunt work has been offloaded to “GDS” (read, “low-cost engineering centers” or offshoring) which if they can pull it off will mean great returns for shareholders, but much less work for US/Canada based engineers. They currently can’t pull it off though, as most of the quality from these centers is incredibly bad.
