Pros

I enjoyed working as a learning assistant for chemistry. The instructor I worked with did a lot for prep and planning so we knew what was going on. They wanted use to help the students as much as we could. If students became problematic, the instructor would handle the problem. All the students I worked with were great. The instructor helped to keep the room at a level where we were treated with respect, but the students still saw everyone at a level that they were always willing to ask for help. I really enjoyed my time in the classroom. At the time, we were overseen by the tutoring services. From my interactions with them, everyone there was great. Any issues or questions that I had were always dealt with quickly.

Cons

Some students may want extra from you by email or wanting to meet with you. If you don't like this, make sure to set clear boundaries. Just remember they are college students who want to learn. I don't think this is much of a con considering you are working with college students who are trying to learn. Just make sure to set boundaries and figure out how to balance it well. I was fine with students emailing me anytime, and I made it clear if I had extra time to meet with them or not.
