one Writer ethos?

Pros

The team here is made up of really smart, hardworking people who are genuinely invested in making the company successful. It’s inspiring to work alongside such talented individuals who care about what they do. The company is growing rapidly and is in a very hot space (AI/LLMs), which presents lots of exciting opportunities for personal growth and career advancement. The benefits are good, and pay is decent for the industry, especially for a company of this stage.

Cons

The "one Writer" ethos is more of a slogan than a reality. It only seems to apply when the sales team needs help closing a deal. Once a customer is signed, the support for the delivery team disappears. Sales reps often make unrealistic promises about delivery timelines and product capabilities without consulting the teams responsible for implementation. When the delivery team challenges these timelines, it’s not uncommon for sales to escalate the issue to their managers, putting undue pressure on delivery teams to meet these often-unachievable expectations. Sales leadership often refuses to hold their teams accountable for over-promising and under-delivering, especially when it comes to product capabilities and implementation timelines. Instead of working to correct unrealistic expectations, they shift responsibility onto the delivery teams to fix problems that shouldn't have been sold in the first place. There’s a pattern of AEs accusing delivery leaders of being "uncooperative" when they can’t deliver what was sold, and management doesn’t step in to correct this behavior. This creates unnecessary friction between teams and a lack of accountability. The company has hired "industry leads" to help with selling into key verticals, but with one exception, they don’t really understand the limitations or capabilities of LLMs or what makes a good generative AI use case. This makes it difficult to trust that the right solutions are being sold or positioned to clients.

Pros

interesting product, a lot of smart people, fast-paced and very innovative, great marketing and event presences. May is super smart and really great to bring into deals. Investors are ready to jump in for intros to leads. Easy to get conversations to discuss AI and AI initiatives. Great enterprise customers. Very smart people at your disposal to support with product knowledge and smooth path to steps. Tight sales process and well-defined ICPs and how to go after them. The industry leads are amazing.

Cons

no work/life balance, family and pregnancy sneered at, middle managers, books are hit and miss, very high expectations and no room for error. Some AEs are killing it, others have been there for over a year and haven't closed a deal, some were doing really well but were let go for reasons unknown. Fear-based culture. I didn't have this problem, but many AEs complained about a lack of availability and support from solutions consultants. Poor customer retention, lost one of the biggest ICP customers due to increasing price without increasing value. Rumored challenges between C-Suite and sale org.
