Pros

Linehaulers basically write their own paycheck Ok benefits Mostly promotes from within Good starting pay Free uniforms Overtime after 8 hours during the day, 40 hours/week (and you will get OT)

Cons

Runs are determined by computer rather than common sense Some locations have poor management Time off is almost impossible at times, especially if you’re a new hire A lot of dock work. Typical night is 4 hours of driving, 8 hours of dock work depending on location Work/life balance is terrible

Pros

As Con-way it was great. Good pay and managers. Home every night. Lots of overtime if you proved worthy. Room to advance

Cons

Management heading downhill on a local level. Equipment old and out dated. Safety over looked way to often. Unorganized. Run out of placards and other required items to stay legal on the road.

Pros

Pay is good, but even that is not enough for what they ask you to do. If you want to move up, you definitely can, but that's if you want to be a corporate slave.

Cons

Don't expect a break at all. Expect management to continually throw more and more reports and responsibilities on you. You'll end up doing their job, and the job of an FOS equal modern day slavery. The health insurance is high as hell if you have a family. Work/life balance is a joke. Expect to be owned by the company. Trial by error. Tossed into the fire and expected to be held responsible for things you don't have control over. XPO pinches pennies so much that supervisors are doing a two man job, and is still suppose to be responsible for everything. FOS's are managements scapgoats. The drivers and dock workers hate management and vice versa. I can see the union coming in soon because there is already an "us vs them mentality." XPO expects you to care for the company, but they don't give a damn about you. As dock workers and drivers how they feel about management if you get a chance.
