Field HR in LTL

Pros

The salary is decent Most of the people are great

Cons

Work life balance is nonexistent (this applies to ALL salaried positions AND the drivers as they are working 12 hours per day 5 days a week and also being asked to work on weekends) HR is so far behind the times. Just recently (within the last 2-3 years) started to build an actual HR team instead of “Personnel Supervisor” so the role is really just administrative. Has the culture of “the good ole boys”. If you don’t fit into their group you won’t get anywhere HORRIBLE or really nonexistent onboarding for new employees Corporate HR does not consult with field HR on process improvements or policy changes when it directly affects the field most. Extremely high turnover in supervisors, due to lack of proper training Stagnant culture, afraid to be a trail blazer in the industry No plan on how to attract and most importantly RETAIN drivers during this driver shortage. Roll out of new programs is poor Again this is all specific to the LTL business unit.

Pros

CEO is passionate and big on employee engagement - This is a large company with a "small company feel"; the company values diversity & inclusion; smart, innovative, and hard-working employees, great technology and processes, a lot of opportunity to grow and learn. Good benefits. Exciting industry / industry leader.

Cons

Pre and post Covid - Employees cannot work remote, and must be in office everyday (however, flexible as needed); 401K match could be a little better, possibly more centralization where it makes sense. Fast paced environment and long hours (in some areas) may not be for everyone.

Pros

Departmental teams are wonderful, but that's as far as it goes. Benefits and compensation are really good too.

Cons

With the recent decision being made to involuntarily force employees working remotely back to office, I am extremely disappointed with upper management. Every coworker that I have discussed this with is not happy about returning. Times are changing, but XPO continues an old school mentality regarding the need to be on site to be productive. It's very upsetting to know that a company is taking trust of their employees away by forcing them back in office. Not to mention on the recent announcement call, the questions were answered very much in a "Because we said so" type reasons. Why does one want to remain remote? To list a few reasons... Quality of life No commute More productive Please change your ways XPO! I think the decision made may be a regretful one when you start to see valued employees seeking work elsewhere. My opinion of the company went from a 4/5 star to a 1. Signed, A VERY upset employee
