Pros
Many of the engineers have been around enough years that they have worked on several projects so have plenty of experience to apply, and understand each other's work. Many of the managers have been engineers, so understand the scope of the work they hand out, so have more reasonable expectations than an MBA type manager.
Cons
The company keeps laying people (that they need) off to save a buck now and try to keep their books looking good, but that can't be the plan forever, if you keep getting rid of the people who make the products, you won't have anything left to sell later.
