Pros

Good pay. Benefits were OK but have declined to 'be inline with piers"

Cons

Benefits have steadily decreased. Management makes decisions based on dollars and not quality of equipment provided. Since purchasing the company, the place went from double digit profitability in 2000 to 1% in 2015. Xylem's constant "improvements" have run the company into the ground.

Painful... boring... poor management... old

Pros

Relatively diverse upper management, although very male-oriented. Starting to see some women and racial diversity in the senior ranks.

Cons

List is endless... - company is scared to grow. At its heart, this is a pump company. Don't believe the "solving water" gimmick. They make pumps. - competition is slaughtering Xylem while management sits around and builds powerpoint slides. a lot of powerpoint. - location is brutal and there was zero sympathy for employees who had to commute 1.5-2 hours each way. Every office in every city was this way. - highly highly highly political. you'll need thick skin. - almost ZERO opportunity for growth - professionally and financially. zero career opportunities and bonuses were miserable.

Worst company I've ever worked at

Pros

Ok benefits and 401k but other then that none

Cons

The company has one value, make money for upper managemant and investors. You are expected to work 50+ hours a week for a 40 hour paycheck. It didn't used to be this way. You are routinely "reminded" by upper management that you are lucky to have a job. The career path at xylem is the good old boys network. If you're planning on trying to advance and build a career with this company, you better hope upper level management likes you and that you can get into their good graces. If they don't, you'll never get a fair opportunity to advance. A college degree, experience and/or hard work won't get you anywhere with this company, unless you are in there click . They don't care about you, they will tell you they do, but they don't. I've seen many well qualified men and women get canned, because they didn't sit at the right table during lunch.
