Pay is only slightly above the average of my YOE.
Promotion is full of politics. Extremely hard to promote quickly.
The company overall is no longer tech driven, especially in my org, engineer culture is missing.
Constantly cutting benefits.
The company stock has little room for growth.
* Welcoming environment with some very intelligent individuals.
* Work with cutting edge technology, solving complex problems with scale rivaling well known tech giants.
* Personally, I am very happy I worked there. My experience there skyrocketed my professional development and helped me develop my skills as a programmer faster than my peers at other companies.
Cons
* Pay is not as competitive as other Bay Area companies
* After being bought out by Verizon it feels like the direction of the company is uncertain. It felt like Verizon did not respect the Verizon Media Group organization, to the point of almost regretting buying them out. It seems like Verizon is more interested in recouping the money spent during the buyout quickly rather than leveraging and maintaining talent and the strong tech infrastructure Yahoo developed.
