      Pros

      Slower-paced environment, which may be appealing to some. Good benefits and tuition reimbursement. Beautiful processes and procedures. Incredibly organized IT department

      Cons

      Salary negotiations are difficult; they lowball offers in the name of internal equity, even though industry rates in New Haven are higher. Parking assignments are not guaranteed, and private parking can cost ~$400/month if you commute. IT department feels siloed, which may limit collaboration and career growth. Required to be onsite even for roles that could be done remotely, which is especially inconvenient during inclement weather. System Engineers in "Dev Ops" are fully remote.

      Amazing QOL for graduate school

      Pros

      Some very good people to work with & great social atmosphere. High pay relative to the cost of living compared to even other "elite"-status schools, and many opportunities for fellowships/extra teaching/etc: this is a vastly underrated quality to look for in a PhD in my opinion since the process of graduate school can be long and taxing.

      Cons

      Varies by department, but some are considerably more disorganized than others.
