      A great place for scientific research, but safety is a concern in New Haven

      Pros

      Yale has a great health care system. It offers a well-rounded scientific community with lots resources and many possibilities for collaborative research. Great reputation.

      Cons

      Not very safe at the high crime rate city of New Haven. A little bureaucracy even in the world of science. Very humid summer.

      beautiful campus; very smart and talented undergrads, grads, and professional school students; world-renowned faculty; cutting-edge research; amazing resources available to the Yale community and Yale affiliates

      Cons

      low pay compared to industry; administration moves very slowly; campus is safe but the surrounding areas are not very safe so one has to always be on alert, especially when walking home at night; bureaucracy

      + Prestige + Salary + Benefits + The paychecks do not bounce + Generous time off + Culture of hard work, excellence. + Good for high achievers

      Cons

      - Can get canned for no reason or justification - They love to hide behind "at-will" employment. - No real tuition reimbursement plan - Little/no job security for staff - a "reorg" or "funding issues" can come up anyday. This happens more than senior management admits. - Bosses are too afraid to stand up to higher-ups
