Awesome environment, great place to work.
Pros
- Beautiful facility. - In-house fully equipped gym, aerobic room with daily aerobic classes, locker room. - On-premises coffee roasting, free coffee. - Indoor fountain. - Decent quality cafeteria. - Nap rooms. - Massage room, ability to schedule massage sessions. - Bocci ball court. - Golf driving range. - Full size soccer field. - Two tier profit sharing. - Matching 401k. - Health Care FSA. - Dependent Care FSA. - Good and reasonable health insurance/dental/vision. - Regular extra curricular activities: biggest loser, dog day, Christmas party, cook-offs, - 1 week extra vacation every 5 years of employment. - Above market wages. Working for Yarde, whether on the shop floor or in the office is fun. Even though you work hard, but they accommodate your outside of work commitments, so the balance is still there. Even though Yarde Metals has been purchased by Reliance Steel and Aluminum in 2006, there is still a presence of the old Craig and Bruce Yardes way and the philosophy that made Yarde pretty successful is still there. Employment is stable, many employees have been 15+ years at the same place. Medium age is close to retirement.
Cons
- It is hard to get in. They are notoriously bombarded with resumes for all the open positions. - The atmosphere is laid back but you can't slack. - Managers and supervisors are usually promoted from within. No managerial positions posted. - No bonuses in the last 2 years. - The place ever so slowly becomes more and more "corporate". - If you are at the beginning of your career, expect to work with older people.
